Dayspring Village of Mount Dora

Mrs. Caroline Weeks is a new resident at Dayspring Village of Mount Dora and she could not be happier. When asked what she likes best about her new home, her answer is simple; "Everything!" Caroline is 98 1/2 years young and an absolute delight to be around. Right away you see and feel her spirit and can see that she has a lot of life yet to live. She is looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday in November of 2011. Caroline is from New Orleans which is where she and her husband raised four children.

For the last 15 years, Caroline has been living with her daughter and son-in-law; Kathy and MacInnis. At times when they needed to be away, they took advantage of respite services offered in several different assisted living communities. When the time came that Kathy felt they could no longer take care of Mom, it was the experiences during these short stays that determined where she would live.

Dayspring Village offers respite care in a private apartment setting with large private bathrooms. They offer 24-hour personal call system, medication assistance, home cooked meals and fun activities. Caroline's ? rst respite visit at Daysprings was two weeks long and she felt comfortable after being there for only a few days. She knew Daysprings would be her new home. "Everyone is so nice and helpful here. They Miss Caroline me to death," she said jokingly. " I just love my suite. I have my own furniture, fridge and microwave."

Kathy is very happy with the care her mom is receiving and is thrilled to see her so happy. Dayspring Village is a smaller assisted living community and that enables personalized care and attention to every resident. “The resident CNA’s are so caring and kind…it is just precious to see them with the residents,” said Kathy. “I know we have found a place that is extraordinary.”

Daysprings Village does not try to make residents fi t their mold- they accommodate to fi t theirs. The personalized care they offer extends to the residents families as well. “We understand that this is a diffi cult time for any family,” said Pam Simons, Director of Community Relations. “Our mission is to help our residents lead the fullest life possible. We offer a variety of amenities to make life more enjoyable, such as a family style dining room, fitness center, movie theatre and shopping and social events.”

Caroline has been too busy to join in many of the extra events. She gets up bright and early so she does not miss breakfast, catches a short morning nap, chats with her son who calls her every day at 11:10 and then meets her new friends for lunch. Today she had a 3:00 hair appointment in the salon conveniently located upstairs. On Tuesday’s a deacon from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church visits her so that she can receive communion.

If you have a loved one that just needs temporary assistance while recovering from an illness or are a caregiver that needs a break, call 383-3310 for a tour and more information about our respite services. Dayspring Villages is a faith based assisted living community located at 2725 Robie Avenue, just off of Hwy. 441 in Mount Dora.
