Home Health Care of Lake County

When faced with life's changes, our confidence in personal safety and well-being come into question. Who's going to help me? Where do you turn when family or friends are not an option?

Home Companions of Lake County Inc is a licensed home health service, that has expanded their offices     located at 2785 S. Bay Street Suite D in Eustis, to serve Lake county. "We see the growing need for companionship and personal care services." said Kellie Keith, Founder of  Home Companions. "Sometimes the client may feel uncomfortable with family or friends providing personal care like bathing. It feels more natural to have a professional caregiver to assist with the personal details." said Kellie.

"When founding home companions my focus was keeping adults and seniors from moving into care facilities too early.  I managed an assisted living facility in Mount Dora and I often  saw residents who could be recuperating or living in their own home if they had someone to oversee their safety and ensure medications and meals were taken.

These residents had family, friends and neighbors, but the mind-set wasn't on how to live at home independently, but where to go now that they're older and living at home seems more difficult. We're focusing on advocating home care and maintaining independence when a life change occurs. It's not age that makes us vulnerable it's not knowing what to do when a change impacts our daily life." said Kellie.

Concerned families and friends may not be aware of the impact it makes on a loved one to leave their home to live in a facility regardless of how much "like home" it appears to be, it's not home. When a person leaves their home to live in a facility regardless of how beautiful it is or how many activities they have or how many friends they can make, they are leaving their life behind.

"When you go away on a trip, you may stay at a beautiful hotel with all the luxurious comforts you can imagine, but when you get home and walk through your front door, you feel relieved to be home. That's where we want to be." said Kellie

Home Companions provides essential care services in your home. Life enrichment services such as companionship is the primary service that Home Companions offers.

Nancy Sevin of Tavares needed someone to take her for an x-ray. Her doctors office gave her a few resources to call. "I called Home Companions because their brochure read that they could come for a few hours at a time and they could drive me to the doctor. I was very comfortable with the service, and I asked if I could get someone to take me grocery shopping later that week. On Thursdays, Home Companions drives me to Publix for groceries and we'll stop over to get an ice cream on the way home. My family lives up north and my neighbors on occasion offer to drive me to the store. I like knowing I can call Home Companions and make plans to have someone come over." said Ms. Sevin.
